Few years later, the boys Hayden Powell and Gunnar Bech started Dixi, a young and fresh trad band that got tremendous audience response, made several albums and toured both in Norway and abroad. The band broke up when many of the musicians left Molde for further education. Several of them are now renowned internationally.

Many have tried to bring about a reunion with the band for long. It has been difficult to get them all together at the same place at the same time, and perhaps also because some of the musicians have ventured away from the music Dixi represented. Jazz musicians are, however, flexible and at home in different expressions, and now Moldejazz has finally succeeded to bring them together for two evenings in the Magic Mirror tent, the festival's new venue for traditional jazz forms. 

This is something old fans of the band must see, as well as anyone who has not heard Dixi live earlier. It may be the only opportunity to hear one of the country's fines trad band live, and experience some of our leading musicians in contemporary- classic jazz forms play the music they grew up with. Dixi resurfacing in this manner is nothing less than a major event.
