When Moldejazz opens a new traditional jazz offering in Magic Mirror tent at Rådhusplassen, it isn't any more natural than that the band who have the Norwegian record in Molde Jazz performances are given the honor of being the first performers!

In addition to being an annual and very popular event on Moldejazz, Ytre Suløen's album release in 2017 is also a major highlight. Ten years after their last release "Oh Mahalia" they are now releasing the live recording "Eternal Now", where they bring the choir Tolvtetten.

Tor Hammerø in his review of the album says Ytre Suløen is "unstoppable" and continues, "The band is as vital and exuberant as it always has been, but with some more contemporary influences included than before. It is also reflected in the repertoire that retrieves songs from both Cannonball Adderley, Andrea Crouch and Wynton Marsalis, but continues with traditional gospel songs and the title track of Tricia's uncle, John Boutté, and Einar Aarøs's tribute to his deceased partner, "Dirge for Christian". Banjoist Aarø is otherwise the only original member from Ytre Suløen's establishment in 1973. Molde Jazz continues the good tradition of combining food and traditional jazz. Now it is Molde's own Calle Fegth who is responsible for serving a tasty Jambalaya in the best Creole tradition. The tickets are sold with or without food and serving of food begins at 19.30, while the music starts at 21:00. This applies to all week.
