A mix of Masculine and feminine energiesIs 25 years old Eve Risser European jazz 'answers to Carla Bley?

25 years old Eve Risser from France emerges as a strong, personal and interesting musician in today's diverse jazz landscape. Both as pianist and as the leader of the ten men and women large "White Desert Orchestra", Eve and her music have been received with enthusiasm all over Europe. In Scandinavia, many remember her from the feisty duo "Donkey Monkey."

Risser creates some of the most fascinating and unprejudiced jazz you can hear today. In a group of ten musicians, we also find the Norwegian trumpeter Eivind Lnning. Enthusiastic critics in many countries have been generous with superlatives for the orchestra. After a great concert experience critic Bjarne Sltoft wrote: Risser's technically demanding compositions mixes well with differentiated, poetic path - with rhythmically staggered instrument groups and special tones with flute and bassoon. One becomes both excited and tinglingly dizzy with the musical detail and the feeling of simultaneous wholesomeness. A distinctive rich orchestral event confirming Eve Risser as one of tomorrow's most significant young European musicians.
Risser herself says that the band is trying to achieve a balance between masculine and feminine energies, along with a balance between composition and improvisation. There is a small event when Eve Risser goes on stage at Teatret Vrt with "White Desert Orchestra" on friday during Molde Jazz. For the first time Norwegian audiences will get a chance to hear this exciting ensemble live.
