Tubist and composer Daniel Herskedal made his international breakthrough in 2015 with the album Slow Eastbound Train, performed at the Jazz the same year. The album was recorded with Eyolf Dale (piano), Helge Norbakken (percussion) and Trondheim Soloists and they have since played dozens of concerts in Europe and Asia. 

JAZZMAN reviewed the concert at London Jazz Festival in 2015 as: "A genuine triumph and a definite festival highlight". All About Jazz reporter and writer Luca Vitali named concert at Turner Sims in Southampton as highlight concert of 2016. Molde native Herskedal has made a number of commissions, including for Trondheim Jazz Orchestra (MoldeJazz 2010), Moskvapatriarkatets choir (Olavsfestdagene 2012) and the BBC Concert Orchestra (London Jazz Festival in 2016). 

In February 2017 he comes with a new album: The Roc, which refers to the fable animal from Arabian mythology. Herskedal has recently collaborated with Arab musicians and been on tours and study trips in Palestine, Syria and Lebanon. The music on The Roc is deeply inspired by these musical meetings. The album builds on Slow Eastbound Train and just as the concert in Molde Cathedral based on this album was a huge success In 2015, it is likely that the concert on Plassen on 20th July will be another success.
