Multi-instrumentalist, composer and electronica producer Mathias Stubø is referred to as a prodigy, and the 18-year-old is heading for a major breakthrough.
His music is a mix of modern electronica and South Sea-inspired disco, funk, jazz and soul from the late 70s. The result is a characteristic, warm and danceable blend of smoky East Coast beats, cool exotic underground disco and uncompromising funk. Over the last few years, Mathias and his live band has played several large Norwegian festivals and the British newspaper News of the World called him one of the highlights at by:Larm in 2010. The album 1979 was recently released by the giant label BBE Music, and has enjoyed a warm reception both in Norway and internationally. Finally a new, genuine talent within Norwegian electronica; we will be hearing from Stubø for many years to come.
