Inspired by Thelonious Monk, Duke Ellington and John Cage, he has created his own unique style. He recorded an album together with Erik Dolphy as early as 1964. He has often played as a duo with Han Bennink and has collaborated with Derek Bailey, Peter Brötzmann, Evan Parker and Anthony Braxton. In 1967, he helped to establish the Instant Composers Pool (ICP), whose aim is to promote interest in Dutch avant-garde music. ICP Orchestra toured the USA recently with great success. In Molde, we have brought veteran Misha Mengelberg together with Tyshawn Sorey, one of the most exciting musicians and composers in new American jazz. They will play together as well as solo. |
