Molde International Jazz Festival favourites Ytre Suløens Jass-Ensemble will again be performing this year, on the first three days of the festival at the New Perspiration Hall. Led by entertainer Tricia Boutté, they will dish up a familiar traditional jazz sound à la Suløen served together with Boutté’s Creole spice. An unbeatable combination! Bon appétit! |

Ytre Suløens Jass-Ensemble offers an exciting mix of traditional jazz and contemporary styles, presented with that rare mix of energy and emotion that has been the band’s trademark for years. The music of New Orleans has always served as the foundation and main concept behind the band, and with vocalist Tricia Boutté, who was born and raised in the harbour city at the mouth of the Mississippi River, it all comes full circle. Their sound combines ragtime, gospel, blues, swing and a hint of Caribbean music. The result is then a unique repertoire and a unique expression simply called the 'Ytre Suløen sound'. Trumpeter Sturla Hauge Nilsen, who joined the band in 2011, replaces Kåre Nymark. Hauge Nilsen, who studies music at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) in Trondheim, plays in other bands such as Adonic and Kurång.
Tricia Boutté – vocals, Jan Inge 'Mella' Melsæter – trombone, Sturla Hauge Nilsen – trumpet, Jens Arne Molvær – clarinet, David Gald – tuba, Morten Gunnar Larsen – piano, Einar Aarø – banjo, Ottar Anderson – drums.
