| Finnish drummer Markku Ounaskari is joined by his compatriot Samuli Mikkonen on piano and by trumpeter and vocalist Per Jørgensen in a unique musical project called ’Kuára’. |

The trio takes Russian psalms and Finnish Ugric folk music as its point of departure, combining them with elements from the musicians’ jazz background. The music is slow-paced and dreamy, presenting us with a peaceful sound landscape that leaves plenty of room for improvisation. The CD ‘Kuára’, which was released recently on ECM, has received great reviews and the musicians were given standing ovations after their concerts at the festival in Tampere last autumn and at Vossajazz just before Easter.
