The first evening at Alexandrakjelleren will ensure the week's concerts start with a bang. On Monday, a new quintet led by style icon and saxophone legend Lee Konitz and the Polish trumpeter Tomasz Stanko will hit the stage. At the age of 83, musician Lee Konitz is still a force to be reckoned with in contemporary Jazz. His list of achievements dates all the way back to collaborations with Lennie Tristano and Miles Davis in the late 1940s, and he is one of the creators of the musical style Cool Jazz. Stanko, an exceptional musician with a distinctive sound, has been a key musician on the global jazz scene for more than 40 years. In the last few decades, he has been on the German record label ECM, and he has released a number of critically acclaimed albums. The New York-based quintet also features Craig Taborn on piano, Thomas Morgan on bass and Jim Black on drums.
