In the space of a few years, Canadian Kris Davis has made a name for herself as an important pianist and composer. She has collaborated extensively with Tony Malaby and Eivind Opsvik. The German saxophonist Ingrid Laubrock has now settled in New York after some successful years in England. Together with drummer Tyshawn Sorey, they have established a trio that was responsible for one of last year’s most exciting CD releases, ‘Paradoxical Frog’. Their music is a distinctive mix of minimalism and free form interspersed with some very lyrical sections. A magical experience is guaranteed at the concert in Forum.
