Ytre Suløens Jass-Ensemble

Ytre Suløen rolls on

After more than four decades with Ytre Suløen, the last few years have seen a lot of changes to the lineup. In short, younger generations are taking over in the rich-on-tradition ensemble. The latest eddition is clarinet-player Lars Frank from Hakkadal.

The new members have contributing to renewing the «Ytre Suløen-sound», all the while remaining true to the bands original musical idea. The band gives us a unique mix of traditional New Orleans-jazz and more contemporary compositions. Ragtime, gospel, a little Caribbean music, blues and swing are all a part of the mix. With New Orleans-born Tricia Boutté on vocals, the band is closer to the sea-side town on the Mississippi river than ever before.

In addition to Creole music there will also be a Creole buffet taking place in Hjertøysalogen. And it's no problem iff you've already eaten; come stop by for desert!

Sturla Hauge Nilsen - trumpet, Lars Frank - clarinet/saxophone, Andreas Rotevatn - trombone, Einar Aarø - banjo, Morten Gunnar Larsen - piano, David Gald - tuba, Kristoffer Tokle - drums, og Tricia Bouttè - vocals
