Christianssand ensemble

Contagious and tight circus

For 13 years Christianssand Ensemble have captivated Norway; they've played themselves bloody, and befriend small and large places alike. The road from lobby-orchestra to crowd-magnet has been long and winding indeed.

Before they, in 2001, went to swing-capitol Paris to record their debut-album, Christianssand String Swing Ensemble, as they were named back then, was a merited live-band with close to 100 concerts on their resume.

Christianssand String Swing Ensemble is rumored to be a hard-hitting energy-bomb with an intensity and nerve that's highly contagious. With ingredients such as gypsy-jazz, French chansons, American jazz, opera and circus-music, a meeting with the band is bound to be a unpredictable and exciting affair.

Since the debut-album I Paris (2001) they've released another three albums. The latest one to date, Etterskjelv (2013), was awarded by 6 eyes on the die from Fedrelandsvennen's reviewer, who labelled the album a "show of force".

Miguel Emilio D. Steinsland - vocals, Brynjar Rasmussen - clarinet and vocals, Marius Tobias Hoven- trombone and vocals, Per Einar Watle - guitar and vocals, Jarle Storløkken - guitar and vocals,  and Eirik Are Oanæs Andersen - contrabass and vocals
