According to Allaboutjazz-writer Eyal Hareuveni, Lars Andreas Haug band is one of several Norwegian, relatively young groups that allows the tuba an opportunity to express itself outside of its ordinary boundaries. All in all he seems quite pleased with the result: "Beautiful, unique and witty compositions, performed masterfully by a highly creative ensemble of musicians."
Also NRK-veteran Erlin Wicklund seems to be convinced:
"With his self-constructed craft «tubåt» and "crew" of six artists, each in a class of their own, the 37-year-old hailing from Sørum sails across genres as well as instrumental-boundaries whilst challenging both himself as a composer and his audience as listeners."
If the «tubåt» from the cover of Conrairosmakes it onto the stage in Molde remains to be seen, but one thing is guaranteed; with Lars Andreas Haug band we're getting a playfully funky, but also pensive, concert experience.
The "crew" consists of: Susann Haug (Vocals), Gunnar Halle (Trumpet), Frode Haltli (Accordion), Helge Lien (Rhodes), Lars Andreas Haug (Tuba/"Tubmarine"), Kunt Aalefjær (Drums)
