Genre-defying, Swedish hip-hop artist with perhaps Scandinavia's tightest backing-band.

Our Swedish hip-hop friend Jason Diakité, better known by his artist name Timbuktu, is set for Moldejazz. He brings with him one of Scandinavia's decidedly coolest backing-bands, Damn!
Together they perform hard-hitting and funky hip-hop delivered in genuine «skåning». [Swedish dialect]

Timbuktu really picked up pace with he released his first album conducted entirely in Swedish, «The Båtten is Nådd», back in 2003. Norwegian radio and show-venues rapidly became interested for the rap-firebrand, and he has ever since gained a large and faithful fan-base in Norway. And there's a reason for why he is so popular. Timbuktu has, righly so, earned a reputation for hosting concerts with a lot of drive, where sweat drips and the crowd are on their feet and dancing. One example of such a concert dates back to when he performed at Moldejazz 2005, and then again at Moldejazz 2009.

Timbuktu is currently working on a new album. According to rumors it is set to be released later this year. In other words we're set for the premiere of never-before-seen material when Timbuktu visits Molde this year. If you haven't caught the latest single, «Spring», from his coming album you have something to look forward to!

Check out «Spring» while brushing off your dancing shoes. You are guaranteed to be needing them! By the way, it is also rumored that Jarle Bernhoft, whom is set to take the stage before Timbuktu, might also find his way back on stage for a guest performance...
