One of Italy's most interesting jazz-pianists meet Brazil's bandolim-maestro. Bollani and Holland released the album O que será on the label ECM in the fall of 2013, where the unique timbre of the Bandolim (a ten-string mandolin) goes hand in hand with the antics of the piano to give us a handful of lyrical, but at times breakneck, compositions based in Latin American musical traditions. Inspiration is, according to the duo itself, gathered from pioneer musicians such as Jobim, Piazzolla, Chico Buarque, Baden Powell, and Eresto Nazareth.
The Guardian awarded the album with four out of five possible stars, and claim that Bollani and Honda deliver a unique and humorous mix of modern jazz and Latin American traditional music.
Moldejazz very much look forward to a visit from Bollani and Holland, and take great pleasure in letting this years Artist in Residence, Sidsel Endresen, invite to a live remix of the concert. As the applause quiets down after their concert at Teatert Vårt, the audience will be guided to Storyville, where Endresen, joined by Punkt-festival Directors Erik Honoré and Jan Bang will present a live remix of the same concert. The concept of live remix is familiar to those who have previously attended Punkt in Kristiansand, where this type of remix has been an integral part of the program for many years.
