Dynamic and danceable in the borderland between pop and jazz

"Pixel is guaranteed to be tomorrows great, Norwegian jazz and pop world-sensation".

Nothing less was what NRK's Erling Wicklund wrote in his review of Pixel's second album, We Are All Small Pixels, which was released in October 2013. Big words, but then Pixel is definitely a band worth paying attention to. Fronted by bass-player Ellen Andrea Wing, Pixel consists of saxophone-player Harald Larssen, trumpeter Jonas Kilmork Vemøy and drummer Jon Audun Baar - all musicians at the forefront of young, Norwegian jazz.

Pixel themselves describe their music as post-bop-pop with the energy of indie-rock.

After comprehensive touring and, as mentioned, two albums the attention has not been long in coming. Pixel was named "Band of the year" in 2013 by Dagsavisen, and they were also one of the representatives for Norwegian jazz at by:Larm in 2014 - where Ellen Andrea Wang was awarded the NOPA-scholarship. The music-video for their single "Call Me" was, in October 2013, awarded "Best international dance video" during the UK Music Video Awards held in London, and Ellen Andrea Wang was also awarded with Tono's "Challenger of the year"-award of 2013 for the same composition. In short, you wouldn't want to miss out on Pixel!
