Fresh material from catch trio

Ellen Andrea Wang took over for the former bass-player in Dag Arnesen trio back in 2010. She's also known as the front-woman of the band Pixel, whom have received much national and international success of the past few years. Among other things their music-video for the single "Call Me" was named "Best international dance video" during the UK Music Video Awards held in London, October 2013, and Wang was awarded with Tono's challenger award for 2013 for the same work. At by:Larm in February, Ellen Andrea Wang was also awarded the NOPA grant.

At Oslo Jazzfestival 2013, Wang made her debut with a self-titled band. The band consists of some of Norways most skilled, young musicians. On keys she has Andreas Ulvo (Eple Trio, Mathias Eick), and on drums Erland Dahlen (Nils Petter Molvær, Pale Horses).

- We very much look forward to playing at Moldejazz, says Wang.

- And we'll play playing songs very no-one else beside ourselves and a very limited few have ever heard before.
In other words brand new, and exclusive, material.

Wang goes on to say that the trio have recently been at the studio recording what is to become their debut-album. We can expect its release this autumn, but first we'll be treated to a taste of what's to come at Moldejazz.

The trip plays a delightful mix of jazz, pop and rock, catchy melodies and hypnotic grooves.
