Award-winning performer with a international, Berlin-based band

Bass-player Dan Peter Sundland, winner of SpareBank1 JazzTalent 2013, brings a new international quartet to Moldejazz 2014. The creative music-scene in Berlin is the basis for the quartet of musicians from Germany, Greece, Norway and Australia.

Saxophone-player Philipp Gropper of Germany is a member of the trio Hyperactive Kid; a trio which has released five albums since they formed in 2003, and they've also been named "the most popular avant-garde-band in Berlin". He also leads the bands Philm and TAU; both touring throughout Germany and the rest of Europe on a regular basis. He has collaborated with musicians such as Håvard Wiik, Kresten Osgood, and Rudi Mahal - and he has released more than 20 albums and won several awards.

Antonis Anissego, a tangentist from Greece, is active both as a composer and as a musician, with a host of compositions for different lineups, among others performed by Ensemble Modern and Ensemble Mosaik.

Australian Steve Heather is a multifaceted drummer involved in everything from jazz through noise-improvisation to rock and dub. Additionally he works with music to dance and performance, and he's undertaken several artistic residencies in, among other places, Berlin, Amsterdam, Groningen and Melbourne.

Norwegian bass-player Dan Peter Sundland is part of bands such as Esp and Nina and the Butterfly Fish (prev. Sommerfuglfisk), both who released albums to great reviews during 2013. He completed a European Jazz master-degree the same year, and also released an album with his own eleven-man's chamber-jazz ensemble. His distinct, acoustic el-bass sound can be heard at jazz-festivals and clubs both throughout Norway and the rest of Europe.
