Catchy dream-pop at an international level

With the 2012 debut, All That Floats Will Rain, Norwegian hipsters, and parts of the Norwegian music-press, quickly noticed the indie-pop quintet Highasakite. With the second album, Silent Treatment, which was released on February 3rd, the band looks set to cement their position as a band well worth paying attention to.

Almost euphoric reviewers at home and abroad are united in embracing the bands sound, but only the well-written texts - texts that stand firmly on their own two metaphorical legs and aren't just an artificial attachment to the music itself. With throat singing and pentatonic scales combined with catchy pop hooks they might well be correct in stating that the band is something of their own. In short a rare but good combination of skillful musicians, good songs and strong lyrics, or as Tor Martin Bø of VG put it:

"The entire quintet are disgustingly talented musicians, with peculiar main instruments such as zither, the "national" instrument of Bergen, and last but not least the oversized trumpet known as flugabone."

For the past year Highasakite has toured large parts of the western hemisphere, and luckily they have found time to stop by Moldejazz.

"With haunting vocals and a sound spanning from the delicate to the suggestive they promote, song by song, that which cannot be expressed with words." Ida Bakke Kristiansen, Dagbladet

Kristoffer Lo, contributing on guitar, percussion and flugabone(!) also deliveres a freshly composed piece for this years festival. Don't miss out on Trondheim Jazzorkester and Kristoffer Lo playing at Teateret Vårt, Plassen at 8 o'clock in the evening of Tuesday, July 15th.

Ingrid Helene Håvik (Vocals), Trond Bersu (Drums), Øystein Skar (Synths), Marte Eberson (Synths) and Kristoffer Lo (Guitar, Percussion and Flugabone)
