John Legend
Before he himself became famous he wrote songs for artists such as Alicia Keys, Mary J. Blige and Kanye West.
As so many others John Legend grew up in a gospel environment, and from an early age he has been influenced by, among others, Stevie Wonder and Aretha Franklin; something which is easily heard in his music. It was Kanye West that first gave Legend a record deal in 2004; a deal that resulted in the album "Get Lifted" and nothing less than 3 Grammy's. "Used to love you" and "Ordinary people", both songs from the debut album, received frequent air-time on Norwegian radio. Later came hits such as "Save room", "Green light", "Wake up everybody" and last years "Tonight (best you ever had)". A truly socially engaged artist with over 1.9 million followers on Facebook...
Kendrick Lamar
Kendrick Lamar continues the Hip Hop legacy from Compton greats like Dr. Dre, Easy-E, NWA and Ice Cube.
The critically acclaimed hip hop star Kendrick Lamar completes the artist line-up at Romsdalsmuseet on Thursday July 18th. Moldejazz have earlier announced that soul- and R&B-star John Legend, live-favorites Karpe Diem and the multi-talented Lido Lido will perform at the museum on this day. Now it's all set for a fourth artist, Kendrick Lamar, one of the rapidly growing stars of the american hip-hop scene and one of the most talked about new artists regardless of genre.

Rarely has a new artist gotten such overwhelmingly good critics for both their record releases as well as their live-shows as Kendrick Lamar. From the digital record debut "Section.80" in 2010 to last months concerts in Scandinavia the superlatives have come flying from every direction.  Last, but not least, there's good reason to mention that his youtube video "Swimming Pools" has well over 31 million views (so far)!
Karpe Diem
Hip-hop kings Karpe Diem return to Romsdalsmuseet!
Karpe Diem, the uncrowned kings of Norwegian hip-hop, delivered a brilliant concert when attending Moldejazz 2010. Since then they have further strengthened their position, something both the critically acclaimed fourth album "Kors på halsen, ti kniver i hjertet, mor og far i døden" and last years spectacular closing concert at Øyafestivalen have contributed to. The group has earlier received Alarmprisen for their debut album "Rett fra hjertet" (2006) and won Spellemannsprisen for their majorly successful album "Fire vegger" (2008). In 2010 they achived, as the first hip-hop act, to with the most prestigious Spellemannspris "Årets Spellemann" after they had delivered yet another successful and well-received album with "Aldri solgt en løgn".

Chirag Patel and Magdi Yrreeide Abdelmaguid have, with their lyrics and their conscious relationship to building rhymes and "flow", shown a unique ability to captivate. Multi-national backgrounds also contribute to the band standing apart from others. It attracted much attention, stricly in a positive sense, when they, as hindu and muslim, performed the songs "Byduer i dur" and "Tusen tegninger" in Oslo Cathedral.
LidoLido
The musical multi-talent LidoLido - aka. Peder Losnegård - makes his Moldejazz debut at Romsdalsmuseet on Thursday.

After his breakthrough in 2011 with the hit singles "Different" and "Turn Up The Life" it's only gone one way for LidoLido - upwards! His self-produced debut record "Pretty Girls & Grey Sweaters" (2012) received rave reviews and quickly sold to Platinum. This led to a host of appearances on television shows and a nomination for the MTV European MusicAward as well as a lot of festival-gigs, among others at Raumarock. LidoLidos highly energic stage-performance is guaranteed to warm up the crowd at the museum; as Dagbladets Sigrid Hvidsten wrote in heir review of his album: "If you don't fall in love with LidoLido you must have lost faith in music-Norway"!
