It was through the Manhattan School of Music that they first met, and a few years later, in 2003, they married. Alicia, originally a classically trained mezzo-soprano, has, to name but a few things, starred in «Porgy and Bess» on Broadway, worked with advanced ensembles combining improvised music and dance in a Motown-show, and worked with jazz-related materials. American press has introduced her as the next big star of Broadway.

Husband Jason holds and commands «the entire history of jazz... and much more!» in his head and at the tips of his fingers. Together they will host a truly unique and special concert where different musical traditions meet, overlap and inspire. Quoting a rather ecstatic review after a mid-April concert at Cornell University: «When we departed we had experienced so much more than a concert. It was a lesson in life itself...Carry on, butterflies, carry on».

Traditionally the concert in Molde Cathedral on Saturday evening draws a large audience who enjoy the intimate music served there as a nice way to sit back, relax and close out their festival-experience. Two of the biggest names in younger African-American music will ensure a memorable closure this year as well.
