Midtnorsk Jazzsenter, Moldejazz and Sparebank1 SMN hereby announce a work-grant for developing a new project with Trondheim Jazzorkester for Moldejazz 2015.
Since 2007 Moldejazz, in cooperation with Midtnorsk Jazzsenter and Sparebank1 Midt-Norge, has awarded a yearly grant to Trondheim Jazzorkester and a young band-leader, a young composer, or a young band-constellation (up to, and including, a trio). During this years festival we'll see the premiere of last years winner with Trondheim Jazzorkester, and a new, personal piece adopting all of the orchestras possibilities. For 2013/14, JazZtipendet was awarded to tubaist Kristoffer Lo. The upper age limit for applicants is 35.
The purpose of the grant is:
(i) to give young, Norwegian jazz-musicans a ground to develop through a cooperation with Trondheim Jazzorkester, Moldejazz and Sparebank1 SMN.
(ii) to present new talents to a large audience at a leading jazz-arena (Moldejazz)
(iii) to further the development of Trondheim Jazzorkester
Previous recipients of the grant are: Kobert (2007/08), Kim Myhr (2008/09), Magic Pocket (2009/10), Stian Westerhus (2010/11), Marius Neset (2011/12), Albatrosh (2012/13), Kristoffer Lo (2013/14).
The economic boundaries of the project are set to NOK 500.000,-. The recipient (a single musician or band) will receive NOK 100.000,- to develop the concert (composing). The remaining part of the grant will be managed by Midtnorsk Jazzsenter to cover costs related to production (musicians fees etc.)
