Monkey Plot advanced to Jazzintro-finale

Happy trio advances to finale

Eventually Monkey Plot emerged victorious after they went head-to-head with Morning has Occured during Vossajazz in the first (out of four) introductory rounds of Jazzintro 2014. As such the trio advances to the Jazzintro-finale at Moldejazz, where they will battle with three other bands to be named "Young jazz-musicians of 2014".

- We're surprised and happy, says Monkey Plot after being told that they are ready for the finale.

The trio, which has worked together for five years, sees this as a testament to the quality of their work, and says that it's a nice build-up before they record an album late this summer.

Monkey Plot consists of Christian Skår Winther (Ålesund) on guitar, Magnus Skavhaug Nergaard (Lier) on bass, and Jan Martin Gismervik (Karmøy) on drums.

The jury says that both concerts were good, and that both Monkey Plot and Morning Has Occurred are bands they look forward to paying attention to in the future. Monkey Plot's unique expression contributed to them being declared the winners.

- All three of them are highly skilled musicians, and the interaction among them was truly exceptional. Monkey Plot appeared as both modern and focused, says Øyvind Skjerven Larsen, foreman of the jury and project leader at Norsk Jazzforum.
