There are many venues at Moldejazz. They range from the most intimate clubs to the grand outdoor stage at Romsdalsmuseet. And for the 45th Moldejazz they all presented great musical performances at a festival declared a success both artistically, musically and economically.
For this year’s artist in residence – bass player Arild Andersen – the 2005 Moldejazz was among the highlights of his long career. He personally performed four outstanding concerts in a variety of musical settings.
The Artist in residence concerts were only a few among many other musical happenings at the festival. Jazz veteran Roy Haynes proved in his 80th year that he is still among the leading jazz drummers. Jazz legend Anthony Braxton performed in
Norwegian projects
Of the Norwegian projects at this year's Moldejazz we would like to point out the cooperation between Kristin Asbjørnsen and Nymark Collective, the Ola Kvernberg Trio and Ebou Secka Wollof Experience, as well as Juanita Brooks and Dixi, Trondheim Jazzorkester and Maria Kannegaard Trio – in addition to the concerts of Zanussi 5 and Petter Wettre’s ”Paramount”. The concerts by Trio Mediaeval and Anders Jormin’s work ”In wind – In light” were two particularly beautiful concerts performed in Molde Domkirke.
Lauryn Hill proved that she is the Queen of soul, reggae and hip-hop at the open-air stage at Romsdalsmuseet.
The 2005 Moldejazz was well attended. The festival sold approximately 25,000 tickets while tens of thousands attended the free concerts during the festival. The festival was exceptionally well executed thanks to a big and very talented staff of volunteers combined with hired professional help.
Moldejazz wish you welcome to a new festival in the week of July 17 – 22 in 2006.
With best regards
