Star vocalist Lizz Wright is coming to Moldejazz with new material and her own band. Hip-hop artist Ivan Ave, electronica favorites Lemaitre and Norway's biggest live band Karpe Diem come together for a triple concert at Romsdalsmuseet on Friday, July 22. Ivan Ave will join with Mutual Intentions for a club night at Plassen. Recipient of Sparebank1's Jazz scholarship Scrap will be performing their newly written materials for Trondheim Jazz Orchestra on Tuesday, July 19 and later that night there will be free and playful event at Storyville with an exciting new band Anna Högberg Attack. On Saturday, July 23 at 8pm a closing concert is scheduled at Plassen with the world premiere of Eyolf Dale's Wolf Valley, a new band with new music.

Lizz Wright
Lizz Wright performed at MoldeJazz with great success as a part of the group "Sing the Truth" along with Dianne Reeves and Angelique Kidjo in 2011. Now she is back with a new repertoire and a new band after the release of their latest critically acclaimed album "Freedom & Surrender" in autumn 2015. The album topped Billboard jazz charts. The wonderful voice that masters jazz, funk and soul equally, unfolds in all its glory through a varied collection. After a concert in New York last autumn, Wright received ecstatic reviews. When she visited Oslo in 2006, Aftenposten gave her the best of reviews, and wrote that this was a special concert experience that will live long in the memory. On the opening day at the Molde Jazz, Wright will be on stage at Teatret Vårt where the festival audience can enjoy every minute with her. The cozy auditorium means that conditions are favorable for experiencing one of our time's greatest singers.

Lizz Wright - vocals, Chris Rosser - guitar, Kenny Banks - keyboards, Nicholas D'Amato - bass and Brannen Temple - drums.

Karpe Diem
Karpe Diem had great success last time they were on MoldeJazz in 2013. At that time they played in between Kendrick Lamar and John Legend performances. Having won everything there is of Norwegian music awards, the band is now back as headliners. Karpe Diem was the first lot in its genre: They were the first hip-hop artists that topped Norway's official single list, VG Top 20, the first to receive Norway's biggest music award: Spellmann artist of the year and the first ones to perform at a sell-out Oslo Spectrum. In 2012 they became the first Norwegian hip-hop artists to play at the international Nobel concert. Karpe Diem has won all of the top prizes Norwegian music has to offer: Spellmann Awards, Alarm Awards, P3 Gold and MTV Europe Music Awards. The duo has released four singles from their highly anticipated and upcoming album Hello Montebello, all with great success.

Lemaitre
Much has happened since electronica icons Ketil Jansen and Ulrik Denizou Lund Lemaitre played at MoldeJazz in 2013. At the time, the duo delivered a performance that got people talking about it for a long time afterwards, and set the standard for future concerts at Plassen. The following year they signed with international label Astral Works and moved to Los Angeles. This year they have released the EP 1749 to great interest from both the international audience and the press, and the band has toured much of the world in the spring. At Romsdalsmuseet on July 22nd the band will perform with a wide range of guest vocalists.

Ivan Ave
Hip-hop revelation Ivan Ave is a proof that the Norwegian music scene in 2016 feels and sounds more global than ever. With great love for soul and jazz in their beats, a delightful textual flow in English and an international vision, Eivind Øygarden boasts of an ever-growing audience. Eivind recently completed a long tour across Europe with producer and musician MNDSGN, who also collaborated with Ivan Aves in their last and wonderful release Helping Hands (2016). On Moldejazz, Ivan Ave will be on stage with producer Fredfades and Kristoffer Eikrem who currently constitute a significant part of Ivan Aves sound.

Mutual Intentions
The same day as rapper Ivan Ave takes the stage at Romsdalsmuseet, he also takes with him his entire crew and collective Mutual Intentions to Plassen and serves up a real festive night consisting of hip-hop, soul, jazz, DJs, motion graphics and interaction. In autumn 2015, Mutual Intentions arranged Norway's first Boiler Room - the world's largest platform for streaming live concerts. It created a lot of attention for the band and the queue outside 'Ingensteds' in Oslo was quite long. Now at Moldejazz, the whole concept is being moved to stage and presented with a number of different artists, as well as several DJs and video artists; Ivan Ave, Fredfades, Charlotte Dos Santos Yogisoul, sRAW, LumiHD, Kristoffer Eikrem, Bendik Hovik Kjeldsberg, Arthur Kay Piene and Erik Treimann.

Trondheim Jazzorkester & Skrap
Heida Mobeck and Anja Lauvdal, also known as Scrap, were awarded the traditional Sparebank 1 JazZtipendiatet at Moldejazz 2015. Now, a year later, they come back with an exciting edition of the always creative and unpredictable Trondheim Jazz Orchestra. Scrap began with a common interest in noise and resistance in music. The search for resistance led them further from noise music to further exploration of the popular musical building blocks, and to implement several different musical elements as sampling, field recordings and small compositions in improvisation. Anja and Heida have brought this attitude into more prolific bands like Broen og Skadedyr, and as a duo they have collaborated with a wide range of artists, from Jenny Hval to Susanna Wallumrød and Axel Dörner to Christian Wolff. The crowd at the Jazz can expect a profusion of a work, where Scrap adopts a number of unanticipated tricks and knack for constantly surprising us. Anja and Heida say that work is about human beings and how we relate to reality today; a universal theme that should be interesting everyone.

Heida Mobeck - tuba / effects, compositions and Anja Lauvdal - piano / synths, compositions, Marianna Sangita Røe - vocals, Adrian Løseth Waade - violin, Mette Rasmussen - alto saxophone, Hanna Paulsberg - tenor saxophone, Peder Simonsen - tuba, electronics, Lasse Marhaug - electronics, Ida Løvli Hidle- - accordeon, Julie Rokseth - harp, Lars Ove Fossheim - guitar, Christian Winther - guitar, Eivind Helgerød - percussion, Hans Hulbækmo - drums, Kyrre Laastad - drums, effects, sound design, Tor Breivik - sound design, Ingrid Skanke Høsøien - lighting designer.

Anna Högberg Attack
During the past year there has been quite a lot of gossip about saxophonist and composer Anna Högberg and her latest project, Attack. The first album of "Septetten" was released this February, an album that has received a lot of praise in the international press. The release shows a band lead and a composer who are willing to go their separate ways. The songs are composed around seemingly improvised and rough framework as it opens up possibilities for the band to build upon further. Whatever method this six women strong band had to choose leads in each case to riveting music. Whether it rumbles or whispers, the music often points towards thematic lines and melodies that people can relate to. Anna Högberg has been one of Sweden's most promising saxophonists in recent years, and is well known from bands like Doglife, Pombo and as a vital part of blistering Fire! Orchestra. In Attack, she has with her five other aspiring Swedish jazz musicians and improvisers: Elin Larsson (saxophones), Malin Wättring (saxophones), Lisa Ullén (piano), Elsa Bergman (bass and composition contributions) and Anna Lund (drums).

Eyolf Dales Wolf Valley
The occasion is set for a world premiere at MoldeJazz in 2016 when the festival presents Eyolf Dale's latest project Wolf Valley, a team of creative musicians. His music is a strong statement of identity from a pianist and composer on the rise, with an original soundscape customized for each individual musician. The prestigious British label Edition Records releases the album with the same name before the festival. The idea behind the project was to collect a group of good friends and colleagues to perform new music in a loftier scope without losing the band's feeling. As Dale himself says, "This music was born in a slightly different way than my previous solo projects, the most important thing was to find the right people and the right format. When I decided to contact my first choices last summer, they all said yes and the process accelerated. With all these amazing musicians on the team, the music was already there, we just had to pick it up."

Dale is a very active performer on the international jazz scene and has previously made his mark with critically acclaimed and Grammy-nominated solo releases with Albatrosh Hayden Powell Trio and Treehouse Project with Trondheim Jazz Orchestra.

Eyolf Dale - piano, Per Zanussi - bass, Gard Nilssen - drums, André Roligheten - sax & clarinet, Hayden Powell - trumpet, Kristoffer Kompen - trombone, Rob Waring - vibraphone and Adrian Løseth Waade - violin. Moldejazz has previously launched Branford Marsalis with Kurt Elling , Ane Brun, Joss Stone, Esperanza Spalding, Chick Corea - Homage to Heroes, Jaga Jazzist, In the Country with Solveig Slettahjell and Reiersrud, Lars Vaular, Kaja Draksler & Susan Santos Silva, Marilyn Mazur's Shamani, Driving Miles and Ola Kvernberg as Artist In Residence with the projects "Mechanical Fair," "Steam Dome," "Porkotta" and "Kirsti, Ola and Erik." Day passes and museum passes are also for sale!
